Mountain retreat venues in Jarabacoa and Constanza (2026): capacity and prices

Where to host a yoga, wellness, church or team retreat in the DR's mountains: villa compounds for up to 16 per villa, halls for 60–325, cabins from US$250 a night, and the activities nearby.

Most retreat searches for the Dominican Republic land on beach venues in Las Terrenas or Cabarete. The Cordillera Central offers something different: cool mountain air, rivers and pine forest, and venues that can sleep and feed a whole group on one property. Jarabacoa sits at an average of about 525 metres above sea level and Constanza is higher, in a valley next to Valle Nuevo National Park (Jarabacoa Mountain Garden, Hotel Constanza).

This guide is for retreat leaders and organisers. It lists the venues we have verified, with the capacities and prices they publish themselves, read on 28 October 2026. Where a venue does not publish a price, we say so instead of guessing. For beach venues, see our guide to hosting a retreat in the DR.

Whole-group compounds (Jarabacoa)

Rancho Las Guazaras, about 10 minutes from Jarabacoa on the road to Manabao, has five villas for groups of 4 to 16 people each, plus individual rooms and three event spaces for up to 325 people. The villas come with full kitchens, and Villa Pérez has private adult and children's pools, four gazebos and dining for 16. Prices are not published, so book through its contact form or WhatsApp (Rancho Las Guazaras).

Jarabacoa Mountain Garden, a residential mountain development about five minutes from town at a minimum of 800 metres, rents two houses: Cabaña de Piedra for 10–12 people with pool, jacuzzi and gazebo at US$250 a night, and La Mansión for 12 people at US$450 a night. The property has a riverside wooden platform for yoga and Pilates, more than a kilometre of the Baiguate River and hiking trails (Jarabacoa Mountain Garden).

Wellness facilities and unusual stays (Jarabacoa)

Alterra, a mountain community at 700 metres that is part of Wyndham's Registry Collection, describes a spa that uses light and sound therapy, studios for spinning, Pilates and dance, an open-air yoga pavilion over the valley, meditation gardens and forest sessions, with 7 km of walking trails and 10 km of bike paths (Alterra). It is primarily a residential development, so ask whether it hosts outside groups and on what terms.

The Domes Jarabacoa offers geodesic-dome stays near rivers, waterfalls and trails (The Domes), and Jamaca de Dios, an eco-tourism residential complex, has a restaurant with a 360° revolving floor at about 900 metres, nature trails and a recreational lagoon (Jamaca de Dios). Both work well for a group dinner or a night that feels different from the main venue.

Constanza: halls, cabins and camping

Altocerro Villas, Hotel & Camping overlooks the Constanza valley a few minutes from town. Its villas sleep one to seven and its rooms one to four. For groups it has a convention centre with two enclosed halls for 60 to 300 people, with stage and dressing rooms, a water kiosk for 150 and a camping-area kiosk for 100 with BBQ, zipline and horses (Altocerro). It also markets retreats directly, for church groups (private halls, balanced meals, sunrise devotionals, campfires) and for couples (Altocerro retreats).

Villa Pajón Eco-Lodge sits inside Valle Nuevo National Park with eight cabins for two to nine people each, all with fireplaces, equipped kitchens and solar power, plus a main lodge for special activities (Villa Pajón). Hotel Constanza Villas & Club is a villa complex at kilometre 1½ on the Constanza–Valle Nuevo road (Hotel Constanza). For a camping retreat, Jardín del Edén is the managed campsite in Valle Nuevo, run under a concession from the Ministry of Environment, with toilets, showers, dining areas and a fire pit (Camping Valle Nuevo).

Getting there and group activities

Jarabacoa Mountain Garden lists its distances as 47 km from Cibao airport in Santiago (STI), 181 km from Las Américas (SDQ), 147 km from Santo Domingo and 47 km from Constanza (Jarabacoa Mountain Garden). For most international groups, flying into Santiago and arranging a private transfer is the shortest route.

For a free afternoon, Baiguate Lodge in Jarabacoa publishes canyoning from US$75 (about 2½ hours), rafting on the Yaque del Norte from US$55 (about 1½ hours) and a horseback ride to the 25-metre Baiguate waterfall from US$25 (Baiguate Lodge). Our Jarabacoa adventure guide covers more operators.

Questions to ask a mountain venue

Ask for a written group rate, whether meals can be fully catered (and vegetarian or vegan), whether there is a covered space big enough for your whole group to practise when it rains, how cold nights get in the month you are going and whether rooms have heating or extra blankets, and whether the road is fine for a minibus. Confirm the deposit and cancellation terms before you announce dates to participants.
