For yoga teachers, coaches and facilitators planning their own retreat: 17 DR venues compared by the beds, spaces and prices they publish, from 16-guest surf camps to a 51-bed retreat garden, plus airports, entry rules and the 18% ITBIS and 10% service charge to build into your price.

If you lead retreats, the question is not 'which retreat should I join' but 'where can I bring 12 or 30 people, run my own program and still make a margin'. The Dominican Republic has a small, clear set of venues built for that, concentrated on the Samaná Peninsula, the north coast around Cabarete and the mountains of Jarabacoa and Constanza.
This guide is organized the way a retreat leader shortlists: by how many people you are bringing, then by region. Every capacity and price comes from the venue's own site, linked inline, and our listings carry the same data with the date we checked it.
Groups of 10 to 20: villas and small centers
Shiva's Cave Retreat Center (Monte Plácido, Las Terrenas) rents one to four homes around a limestone grotto for up to 18 people, with meal plans and airport-transfer help (Shiva’s Cave). Casa Tabiki on Playa Cosón is a 9-bedroom beachfront villa for 18 (up to 22), each room en suite and air-conditioned, at US$1,600 a night in low season and US$2,000 in high season (Casa Tabiki). Split across 18 guests, that is about US$89 to US$111 per person per night before food and staff: our arithmetic from the published rate.
On the north coast, Swell Surf Camp in Cabarete caps groups at 16 in private and twin rooms with no dorms, and includes two surf sessions a day at Playa Encuentro, yoga, breakfast, three dinners a week and the Puerto Plata (POP) airport transfer (Swell). In Jarabacoa, Jarabacoa Mountain Garden rents Cabaña de Piedra for 10 to 12 people at US$250 a night and La Mansión for 12 at US$450, with a riverside wooden platform for yoga and Pilates (Jarabacoa Mountain Garden).
Groups of 20 to 50: dedicated retreat centers
Yoga Life Villa, in the hills above Las Terrenas, hosts retreats for up to 23 in 10 suites, with daily yoga and meditation, vegetarian cuisine and a studio it also rents out (Yoga Life Villa). ZÂRIA EcoRetreat in El Valle has 10 ocean-view jungle rooms for up to 30, Wi-Fi throughout, and complimentary round-trip transfers from Santo Domingo (SDQ) for groups of 15 or more, a real saving given the drive (ZÂRIA).
Leisy's Garden, also in El Valle and five minutes from the beach, is built for visiting facilitators: up to 51 sleeping guests in 7 A-frame cabins, 10 studios and 8 hostel beds for crew, up to 100 with neighboring overflow, a movement studio, fire pit and restaurant. It says it has hosted 20 retreats in a year and a half, coordinates SDQ and El Catey (AZS) transfers, handles vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets, and prices each retreat individually (Leisy’s Garden). Las Galeras Village Ecolodge, at the tip of the peninsula, accommodates up to 50 and lists yoga, spiritual and corporate retreats among its uses (Las Galeras Village).

Groups over 50, and mountain options
Above 50 you are combining properties. Rancho Las Guazaras in Jarabacoa has five villas for 4 to 16 people each and three event spaces for up to 325 (Rancho Las Guazaras); Altocerro in Constanza has villas for 1 to 7, rooms for 1 to 4 and a camping kiosk for 100 (Altocerro). For a cooler, more remote week, Villa Pajón runs 8 cabins for 2 to 9 people with stone fireplaces and solar power inside Valle Nuevo National Park (Villa Pajón), and Jardín del Edén camping operates there under a Ministry of Environment concession (EQUIPA-T). Alterra, part of Wyndham's Registry Collection in Jarabacoa, offers an open-air yoga pavilion, spa and 7 km of trails at 700 m (Alterra).
Program add-ons: surf, kite and teacher training
Cabarete is the place to sell a yoga-plus-sport retreat. The Yoga Loft at Zen Cabarete has run a beachfront shala on Kite Beach since 2007 with yoga-and-surf and yoga-and-kitesurf packages and farm-to-table vegetarian meals (Yoga Loft). Yoga Kite Camp runs Yoga Alliance 200- and 300-hour teacher trainings alongside IKO kite lessons, about 20 minutes from POP (Yoga Kite Camp). Natura Cabana adds bungalows for 2 to 6, a spa and a yoga temple (Natura Cabana), and Velero Beach Resort lists rooms from US$90 a night if participants book their own beds (Velero).
Getting participants there
For Samaná-area venues, El Catey (AZS) is 23 km from Las Terrenas and 74 km from Las Galeras, according to its operator Aerodom (Aerodom), but many international participants will land in Santo Domingo (SDQ), so check whether the venue covers that transfer, as ZÂRIA does for 15+ guests. Cabarete and Puerto Plata venues use POP; Jarabacoa and Constanza are reached by road from SDQ or Santiago.
Entry is simple for most markets: US citizens need no visa for stays up to 30 days and the tourist card is included in the airfare, per the U.S. State Department (State Dept.). Every passenger fills in the free e-Ticket for arrival and departure (Migración); put the link in your joining instructions.
Pricing your retreat: taxes and service charge
Build two Dominican charges into your per-person price. ITBIS, the value-added tax, is 18% on taxable services (DGII), and Pro Consumidor confirms the 10% legal tip applies to food and drink consumed on the premises (Pro Consumidor). A villa quote of US$2,000 a night may or may not include them, so ask for every quote with tax and service shown separately, then add your own facilitation fee, flights for any co-teachers, and a contingency for the hurricane season (June to November) if your dates fall there.
A simple sheet: venue nights x rate, plus meals per person per day, plus transfers, plus excursions, plus 18% and 10% where they apply, divided by your minimum viable headcount, not your hoped-for one. Our retreat planning checklist lists the rest.
What we left out
Most centers here price per retreat on request, so we publish no per-person retreat rates we could not read on their sites. Capacities are the venues' own maximums; confirm the bed mix (singles vs shared) before you price shared rooms.
