Who each park suits
Buggy-first travelers: Macao Offroad (dune buggy from US$50, ATV, VIP buggy, horseback from US$59) and Macao Buggies (4-hour tour with a cenote and Macao beach, hotel pickup, free cancellation up to 24 h). Families who want several activities in one ticket: Bávaro Adventure Park (ziplines, buggies, Polaris ATVs, horseback, a waterfall pool and cenotes; zipline and waterfall-pool combos from US$139) and Scape Park at Cap Cana (cenote and cave swims including Hoyo Azul, ziplines, buggies, a cultural route and restaurants). River lovers: La Hacienda Park, with ziplines, buggies and Anamuya River adventures.
What to wear and bring
Buggy routes are dusty and often muddy: wear clothes you don't mind ruining, closed shoes, and bring sunglasses or a bandana. For cenotes, pack swimwear and a towel. Confirm pickup times; most tours collect from Bávaro and Punta Cana hotels.
Groups and celebrations
For bachelor and bachelorette groups, a private buggy or zipline booking followed by a private catamaran is a common combination. ExperiencesDR's in-house Event DJ starts from US$1,000, and action video and drone coverage are priced on request.
Booking and cancellation
Macao Buggies states free cancellation up to 24 hours before its tours and includes hotel pickup; ask other parks for their policy in writing. Book the morning slot if you can: it leaves the afternoon free for the beach and avoids returning in late traffic. If you are travelling as a couple, ask whether a buggy is shared or single, as prices are often per person on a shared vehicle.
Cenotes explained
A cenote is a natural sinkhole pool formed in limestone. In Punta Cana, Hoyo Azul inside Scape Park at Cap Cana is the best-known; Macao Buggies' tour includes a cenote stop, and Bávaro Adventure Park lists cenotes among its activities. Bring swimwear and water shoes, and follow the guides' instructions on where to swim.
