Cap Cana is a private, gated community of about 123 km² on the south-east tip of the Dominican Republic, near Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). It has a marina, Juanillo Beach, the Jack Nicklaus-designed Punta Espada golf course, an equestrian centre and a growing list of luxury hotels, which makes it one of the country's most popular wedding addresses.

About Cap Cana

Punta Espada, designed by Jack Nicklaus, opened in November 2006, and Marina Cap Cana opened in 2007. The community also includes Juanillo Beach, the Los Establos equestrian centre and Scape Park with its Hoyo Azul cenote. Hotels include Eden Roc, Sanctuary, Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara, and the St. Regis opened in 2025.

For couples, that means a choice of beach, golf-course, marina and resort settings inside one gated area, close to Punta Cana International Airport.

Resort venues

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, an all-inclusive resort, publishes several packages, from Just for the Two of You and Intimate Elegance (the couple plus 10 guests) to larger celebrations. Its Zilara Beach Gazebo takes ceremonies of up to 100 guests, and a Big Day Preview visit costs US$600, credited toward the wedding on booking.

Eden Roc Cap Cana offers weddings with a dedicated team of wedding specialists and multi-purpose event spaces. Resorts often have rules on outside vendors, so check before booking a photographer or DJ.

A private villa on Punta Espada

Villa Espada sits on Fairway 5 of Punta Espada and sleeps up to 22 in 8 en-suite bedrooms, with a fairway lawn for larger receptions. Its wedding offer includes pool-terrace ceremonies and rehearsal dinners, and a private chef, butler, maid and airport transfers come with the stay. Rates start at US$2,500 a night for 6 bedrooms from May to October and US$3,000 for the full estate, rising to US$4,000 and US$4,500 from November to April.

A villa gives you more control over vendors and timing than a resort, but you organise more yourself: catering, rentals, music and guest transport.
