Bahia Principe, Blissful, from US$769: symbolic officiant, venue, bouquet and boutonnière, sparkling toast, a romantic beach dinner, a one-tier cake and a room upgrade. Offered at its six Punta Cana resorts, its two La Romana resorts and its two Samaná resorts (Bahia Principe).

Excellence Punta Cana and Finest Punta Cana, Lovebirds, US$950 per couple: symbolic ceremony at the stone gazebo, coordinator, sound for 30 minutes, bouquet and boutonnière, cake for two, a romantic dinner and five digital photos. It is complimentary when the wedding party books 20 paid room nights (Excellence price sheet, Finest price sheet).

Up to 10 guests

Bahia Principe, Joyful, from US$1,189 for up to 10 people including the couple (Bahia Principe).

Lopesan Costa Bávaro, Endless Knot, US$1,899 for up to 10 including the couple, then US$30 per extra guest (children half price), designed for up to 30. It becomes complimentary if the group reserves five Unique Junior Suite Tropical rooms for at least seven nights, booked 30 days before arrival. It includes a draped arch, symbolic minister, sparkling toast, one-tier cake and a semi-private dinner for up to 10 (Lopesan).

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana sells an "Intimate Elegance" package for the couple and 10 guests but does not publish its price; its site does publish a US$600 "Big Day Preview" visit for the couple and one guest, credited to the wedding if you book (Hyatt Zilara).

20 to 30 guests

Bahia Principe, Delightful, from US$2,589 for up to 20 people (Bahia Principe).

Lopesan Costa Bávaro, Eternal Vow, US$3,999 for up to 30 including the couple, US$30 per extra guest, designed for up to 50 (Lopesan).

Excellence Punta Cana, Everlasting Memories, US$4,000 Monday to Wednesday or US$5,500 Thursday to Sunday for up to 30 guests staying at the resort, then US$75 per extra guest. It is the most complete of the published packages: hair and makeup for the bride, a couples' massage, a 30-minute ceremony sound system, a one-hour cocktail with open bar and a live trio, a four-hour private dinner with open bar, cake, four hours of DJ, 20 digital photos and a 15-minute ceremony video. It needs at least 10 guests and requires at least 90% of guests to stay at the resort (Excellence price sheet).

Bahia Principe, Beautiful, from US$5,139 for up to 30, then US$110 per extra guest: two floral columns, white chairs, sound with a microphone, an appetizer menu, 45 minutes of live music, a two-tier cake, dinner with open bar, private group check-in and two complimentary nights for the couple (Bahia Principe).

40 guests and more

Finest Punta Cana, Everlasting Memories, US$5,500 Monday to Wednesday or US$7,000 Thursday to Sunday for up to 40 guests staying at the resort, then US$75 per extra adult and US$50 per child aged 4 to 12, with the same 90% stay rule (Finest price sheet).

Lopesan Costa Bávaro, Everlasting Love, US$8,599 for up to 40, US$60 per extra guest, designed for up to 70, with a one-hour cocktail, a 45-minute saxophonist and a three-tier cake (Lopesan).

Bahia Principe, Wonderful, from US$8,990 for up to 40, US$140 per extra guest; and Sundara, from US$9,375 for up to 50, a package built for South Asian weddings, also US$140 per extra guest (Bahia Principe).

Lopesan Costa Bávaro, Unique Glam, US$12,999 for 50 to 70 people or US$15,799 for 71 to 99, then US$85 per extra guest, designed for up to 250 (Lopesan).

Making it legal: what it adds

The packages above are symbolic. At Lopesan a legal ceremony with a justice of the peace adds US$850 on the smaller packages and US$650 on Everlasting Love and Unique Glam (Lopesan). Excellence and Finest quote a legal ceremony with a judge separately; the couple and two witnesses must be at the resort before noon at least three business days before the wedding (Excellence price sheet).

On top of any resort fee, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) charges RD$25,000 for a civil marriage between two non-resident foreigners (JCE). Paperwork by home country is in our legal vs symbolic guide.

How to compare packages fairly

Line packages up by guest count, not by headline price: a US$4,000 package for 30 and a US$1,899 package for 10 can cost the same once extra guests are added. Then check four things. Does the price change by weekday (Excellence and Finest charge more Thursday to Sunday)? How many guests must stay at the resort, and for how many nights? Is dinner private and is the bar open? And what happens if you bring your own photographer, DJ or videographer?
